FRIENDS for Life

friendsforlifeWe at Capital Region Mental Health & Addictions are excited about the FRIENDS for Life Program that we are soon launching in the Fredericton region.

FRIENDS for Life is a cognitive-behavioural program developed in Australia that is currently being used throughout the world. It is based on preventing childhood anxiety and depression through emotional resilience – helping to teach children and youth how to cope with and manage anxiety both now and also later in life. Early intervention can help in preventing childhood anxiety from developing into chronic adult anxiety disorder or, in some cases, clinical depression.

The need for programs such as FRIENDS for Life is great. Anxiety has been identified as the most prevalent mental health disorder among children. Counsellors increasingly see young people paralyzed by anxiety to the extent that it interferes with their ability to function normally in personal relationships and everyday challenges.

CRMHAA is able to offer this program through the generosity of several funding grants and we greatly appreciate this support.
